Fresh vs. Frozen: What’s the Difference?
When selecting donor eggs, you have two options: frozen or fresh. Each offers unique benefits, depending on your timeline, preferences, and treatment plan.
- Frozen Donor Eggs – At Pinnacle Egg Bank, all eggs are retrieved and cryopreserved in advance, making them immediately available for use. Frozen donor eggs offer greater convenience, faster treatment timelines, and often lower costs compared to fresh cycles. Both Pinnacle clinics and affiliated clinics utilize our extensive frozen egg bank to meet patients’ needs.
- Fresh Donor Eggs – We offer a fresh donor program for Pinnacle’s network of clinics. This option involves the donor undergoing ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval in sync with your cycle. Fresh cycles typically result in a larger number of eggs available for fertilization but require more time for coordination.
How Much Are Frozen Donor Eggs?
The cost of frozen donor eggs varies based on several factors, including the number of eggs purchased, and any medical services required as part of your treatment plan. Cohort+ refers to a set number of eggs purchased from a single donor, with enhanced benefits. If you're considering a Cohort+ option, our team can guide you through the benefits and help determine the best fit for your journey.

Coverage and Payment Information
If you are using insurance, cost breakdowns may vary depending on your benefits and coverage. The contracted packages with Progyny and Maven do not include a blastocyst guarantee but can be added for an additional fee. Pinnacle Egg Bank also offers financing options through third-party lending partners.
Additional Information
- If shipping is required, it is arranged by Pinnacle Egg Bank at a flat fee of $950. This includes $25,000 in liability insurance, which can be increased to $50,000 for an additional fee of $550.
- Some donors have a supplemental fee of $3,700 per cohort due to increased costs that go into the cycle.
- Additional cohorts of eggs may be added if available; applicable fees will apply.
- Blastocyst guarantee is before PGT-A test results, as we cannot guarantee a normal embryo.
Refunds for Donor Eggs
At Pinnacle Egg Bank, we know that choosing donor eggs is a significant decision, and we’re here to provide guidance, transparency, and peace of mind. To support you in this process, we offer a full refund for donor egg packages that have not yet shipped, as long as the cancellation occurs within 60 days of purchase due to medical reasons, such as genetic incompatibility or if a patient’s clinic is unable to affiliate. While our shipments are limited to affiliated clinics, our team is happy to assist in exploring potential partnerships.
If a match is canceled within 60 days and prior to shipment for non-medical reasons, a $3,000 administrative fee applies. Once eggs have shipped or beyond the 60-day period, refunds are no longer available. However, if the guarantee criteria are not met, we offer a replacement cohort to help ensure the best possible outcome. Our team will work closely with your clinic to review outcome documentation as part of this process.
Embryo Development Guarantee: To further support your journey, Pinnacle Egg Bank includes a blastocyst guarantee with every paid cohort of donor eggs (excluding replacement cohorts). This reflects our commitment to helping intended parents achieve successful outcomes. For full details on our guarantee, we encourage you to reach out—we’re happy to provide more information.
