Dr. Akhil B. Shah has always embraced his role as a natural caregiver (he was sharing dad jokes long before becoming a father) and feels privileged to help patients build their own families. Known for his warm demeanor, ability to connect with others, and motivational spirit, Dr. Shah is a trusted ally and advocate for his patients.
Dr. Shah has a particular interest in reproductive surgery and extensive experience in hysteroscopy for the treatment of fibroids, intrauterine adhesions, and uterine septums. He is also skilled in minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgical techniques, providing advanced and effective care for his patients.
Originally from Illinois, Dr. Shah earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was celebrated for his compassionate teaching style. He received the Golden Apple Teaching Award from medical students and earned the Best Resident Research Award for his cost-benefit analysis of minimally invasive hysterectomy techniques. Dr. Shah then pursued a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Shah has presented his research at prestigious conferences, including the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. His work includes studies on follicular blood flow using 3D ultrasound and comparisons of frozen embryo transfer techniques. He has also authored a chapter on preoperative ultrasound imaging in gynecologic surgery for Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Shah is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Shah sees patients primarily at our Kirkland location. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, exploring the natural beauty of the Seattle area.
