Dr. David Cohen has been the Co-Medical Director of the Institute for Human Reproduction (IHR) in Chicago since 2014. Prior to this role, he served as Professor and Chief of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Division at the University of Chicago, where he established himself as a leader in the field of reproductive medicine.
Board-certified in both Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Cohen has successfully treated patients facing a wide range of challenges, including ovulation disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, male factor infertility, and fertility preservation. He has also helped couples from around the world conceive healthy children through IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT). Known for his willingness to tackle complex cases, Dr. Cohen is committed to developing individualized therapeutic strategies for patients who require innovative approaches beyond standard protocols.
Dr. Cohen earned his BS in Neurobiology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and his MD from New York Medical College. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the State University of New York in Syracuse, followed by a fellowship in REI at the Medical College of Georgia. As a recipient of the NIH’s Reproductive Scientist Development Program, he pursued advanced research in Molecular Medicine during a fellowship at Cornell Medical Center in New York.
A respected member of the reproductive medicine community, Dr. Cohen is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART), and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). In 2002-03, he served as President of the Chicago Association of Reproductive Endocrinologists, reflecting his dedication to advancing the field and mentoring future leaders in reproductive medicine.
