Dr. Jillian Kurtz, DO, is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist. She currently serves as the Medical Director at ORM Fertility.
A Portland native, Dr. Kurtz is thrilled to serve the Pacific Northwest, returning to her roots after completing medical training in Colorado, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Her passion for women’s health and reproductive autonomy began during her college years when she worked as a patient advocate at Planned Parenthood. “Helping women through vulnerable situations has always felt natural and normal for me,” she says. Growing up with three sisters, she has always been drawn to caring for women and advocating for their right to build the families they desire. “It’s so rewarding to help individuals and couples reach their reproductive goals. Everyone deserves to have a family, and it’s wonderful to see more non-traditional families growing and thriving.”
Dr. Kurtz empathizes with her patients, having experienced her own fertility challenges. While trying to conceive at the end of her residency, she and her husband pursued IVF after months of difficulty. After two unsuccessful embryo transfers, they took a break and spontaneously conceived. When trying for their second child, they returned to their frozen embryos and conceived on the first transfer. “I’m really happy I did IVF and had remaining embryos—it took the pressure off of getting pregnant the second time,” she shares. “I’ve been there—assuming I would be able to get pregnant easily, only to face unexpected struggles. It was really hard. But now I can very personally and authentically empathize with my patients when their journey to building a family isn’t straightforward.”
Dr. Kurtz is also a strong advocate for proactive fertility care and education, particularly regarding egg freezing. “For those who haven’t yet found a life partner or are unsure if they even want children, egg freezing is a fantastic way to gain some peace of mind,” she says. She is passionate about empowering individuals to take control of their reproductive futures and helping them achieve their family-building goals when the time is right.
